I just love the energy of my grandchildren. So effervescent and full of life.
They bring back memories of our children and our childhood selves, bursting with energy at that age. It seems to be a common lament, that this spark has been lost. We aren't our old selves. Where have we been lost? Parenthood, getting a job, food on the table, all that sort of adult responsibility, its what has brought us down to a lower level of life and living.
I want to celebrate childhood with this image, the power and the journey. The pathway of life, forever fun we had hoped for. It just gets squashed. Modern life and responsibilities seem to bear down and drain us of joy.
Please. Bring back those memories, try and live that life again. How do we do that? Play with abandon, forget the rules, have fun. Run on the beach, roll on the floor with your grandkids, whatever, laugh until it hurts.
Bring back the smiles and laughter, that spark. We are too serious, so let go, just let go. Does it really matter what other people think?
Make an effort they say. Well that always seems hard to do, ‘just do it’ as they say. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway. Our actions mean more than words, we just need to 'do' and to be active.
We think too much, so why not just enjoy the physical……while we can play.
